A local county recorder's office wanted to provide full text searching ability for all recorded land records. Land record management software can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars with yearly maintenance fees. We proposed a solution using open source software that was 90% as accurate for a fraction of the cost. This level of accuracy was more then sufficient plus they would own the code and could make enhancements themselves.
A large, non-profit university needed a method of creating customized study plans for students based on their competency level with the course materials. Their previous method involved a lot of copying, pasting, and editing of content. The new solution was a simple web page that provides a customizable selection of tasks specific to a student's course, engagement, and level of competency. It's easy to add more tasks.
A large university with the Carnegie classification of Master's Colleges and Universities needed to improve the efficiency and quality of grading feedback provided to students. More feedback and higher quality feedback improves the quality of student learning and the student experience. A customization to their third-party learning management system was going to cost an incredible amount of money and likely take over a year to develop and deliver as it was low on the priority list. Thinking outside of the box we developed a web browser extension in a few weeks to automate the grading feedback by matching rubric selections to templates maintained by the professors. All feedback is fully customizable and personalized to each student.
A university with over 3,700 faculty needed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of engagement-based student outreach. The faculty used several internal and 3rd party websites to gather engagement data. Yet another system was used to view past outreach and finally Outlook was used to send standard emails. Faculty were constantly alternating between multiple web browser tabs and Outlook. We developed a web browser extension to embed engagement data directly in the outreach system. Faculty could see at a glance a student's course engagement in one location. We integrated an email template system using actual student engagement data so faculty can now send highly personalized emails to students with the click of a button.
